BORDEAUX ROUGE CHATEAU DE CHATEAUNEUF 2022 DESCRIPTION

Chateau de Chateauneuf's Bordeaux Rouge is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc that originates in the Entre-deux-Mers area, the largest of Bordeaux's sub-areas, and is characterised by its distinct aromas of berries and liquorice. In this area, Didier Chinzi, owner of the Chateau de Chateauneuf winery, manages around 25 hectares of vineyards, planted on rather heterogeneous soils composed of clay, silt, gravel and limestone. Technical management is then entrusted to the expert advice of oenologist Jean-François Rontein, who adopts a modern approach and aims to obtain wines of great cleanliness and precision.

Chateau de Chateauneuf Bordeaux Rouge consists of a blend of Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%), varieties grown on soils rich in clay, gravel and limestone at an altitude of 100 metres above sea level. The vines then benefit from the typically oceanic climate that characterises the area, strongly influenced by the cold currents blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean. In the cellar, the grapes undergo destemming and crushing, and are then subjected to 7 days of pre-fermentation maceration. This is followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks thanks to the inoculation of selected yeasts, accompanied by a variable period of contact between the must and the skins. During the period of maceration, the wine is pumped over the cap twice a day and remains in stainless steel to mature for several months until final bottling.

The Bordeaux Rouge Chateau de Chateauneuf possesses an intense ruby red hue. The nose is defined by sensations of red fruits, such as strawberry and cherry, and black fruits, including blackberry and blackcurrant, all accompanied by herbaceous hints and aromas of tobacco and liquorice. Fresh and well-balanced on the palate, with silky tannins that combine with hints of berries in a pleasant finish.
