Bourgogne Chardonnay Vincent Wengier 2022

Vincent Wengier's Bourgogne Blanc originates in the prized Chablis area, with only Chardonnay grown on the traditional clay-limestone soils, responsible for great finesse. The nose has typical white fruit sensations that meet with hints of wet stone. In the mouth it is very taut but round, with a mineral profile. It can mature in the cellar to develop more evolved hints, but it is also excellent now as an aperitif, perhaps with fish appetisers

BOURGOGNE CHARDONNAY VINCENT WENGIER 2022 DESCRIPTION

Vincent Wengier's Bourgogne Chardonnay is a label from northern Burgundy characterised by aromas of fruit and white flowers. The vineyards that supply the grapes for this white wine are located in the Préhy area, the headquarters of the Domaine, the only commune in the entire Chablis area where production is permitted under the AOC Bourgogne. In addition to this appellation, Vincent Wengier's wines fall under the AOC Chablis, Petit Chablis, Bourgogne Aligoté and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.

Domaine Vincent Wengier Bourgogne Chardonnay is made exclusively from grapes of the Burgundy variety of the same name from vineyards with an average age of 20 years located within the commune of Préhy, at the southern end of the Chablis territory. In particular, the vines, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, certified since the 2023 harvest, stand on a plateau made up of clay-limestone soils above a subsoil dating back to the Kimmeridgian period. Following the harvest, carried out with the aid of state-of-the-art harvesting machines, the grapes undergo gentle pressing, with the resulting must left to decant. This is followed by slow alcoholic fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks and then spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Maturation continues for several months and always takes place in stainless steel on the fine lees in order to contribute to the roundness and aromatic complexity of the wine.

The Bourgogne Chardonnay from Domaine Vincent Wengier has a pale straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. The aromatic profile expresses hints of white-fleshed fruit such as apple, pear and white peach, enhanced by floral nuances of camomile and subtle hints of butter. On the palate it shows an excellent balance between softness and fresh-sappy shoulder, as well as a mineral finish with good tension.
