BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 'CASTELGIOCONDO' FRESCOBALDI 2019 DESCRIPTION

Brunello di Montalcino "Castelgiocondo" is a wine that is a bearer of the passage of time and respect for tradition, a value that the Marchesi de' Frescobaldi winery, even today, after 700 years of history, continues to emphasize in each of its labels. This is a territorial red, expressing the potential of Sangiovese within one of the most renowned terroirs in all of Tuscany and giving a powerful but never out of control sip, always harmonious thanks to elegant tannins. A bottle that confirms itself at the top of the entire appellation, as witnessed by the main Italian and foreign wine magazines.

This "Castelgiocondo" Brunello di Montalcino comes from a careful selection of Sangiovese grapes made by the Frescobaldi winery team. The vineyards, facing south and southwest, are situated at an optimal altitude of between 250 and 450 meters above sea level and are rooted in a terroir rich in sand, clay and calcium. The berries, once harvested during manual harvesting, alcoholically ferment in steel, macerating for 30 days and also carrying out malolactic fermentation. Then comes the ageing phase, carried out for 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels, another 24 months in French oak barriques and, finally, after bottling, for 4 months directly in the glass.

Brunello di Montalcino's "Castelgiocondo" reveals to the eye a ruby red colour, compact and not very transparent. On the nose, clear fruity scents are enhanced by notes that tend towards the spicy, from which a slight woody touch also emerges. On the palate, it is full-bodied, ample, round and satisfying, with a warm mouthfeel that ends with a pleasantly tannic aftertaste. The spirit of Montalcino is encapsulated by the Frescobaldi winery, a historical entity with several centuries of tradition in the wine world, in this great red, ideal for accompanying game-based main courses.
