BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO CASTELLO TRICERCHI 2019 DESCRIPTION

Castello Tricerchi's Brunello di Montalcino expresses the connotations of the noblest of Montalcino wines, interpreted in traditional style through long macerations and ageing in large barrels. We are located on the northern side of the Montalcino district, where the slightly cooler temperatures and marked temperature swings between day and night allow for fragrant, juicy wines of great impact. Here, Castello Tricerchi manages a total vineyard area of 13 hectares, entirely dedicated to Sangiovese Grosso, the emblematic variety of the Montalcino territory.

Castello Tricerchi Brunello di Montalcino is made exclusively from Sangiovese Grosso grapes from vines over 25 years old, located at an altitude of 290 metres above sea level. The soils are of medium texture, characterised by the presence of calcareous clay and sand, while the exposure is west-north-west. Harvesting is carried out between the end of September and the beginning of October, strictly by hand with careful selection of the bunches. This is followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a long maceration on the skins for 30 days at a controlled temperature of 23 °C. The subsequent ageing period lasts at least 30 months and takes place in large Slavonian oak casks of 15 and 20 hectolitres. Before its definitive release, the wine then rests for a minimum of 8 months in the bottle.

In the glass, Castello Tricerchi's Brunello di Montalcino reveals an intense and limpid ruby red mantle. Elegant aromas of ripe cherry, chocolate and tobacco describe the olfactory panorama along with delicate spicy and floral hints. The palate shows finesse and structure, with brilliant freshness and smooth tannins accompanying the long, juicy finish.
