Poggione Brunello di Montalcino is the iconic red wine of Tuscan excellence, produced by one of the area's leading wineries. Il Poggione is located in the southwest area of the famous Montalcino hill, in the area of Sant'Angelo in Colle. The vineyards are cultivated in an environmental context rich in woods and biodiversity. They can enjoy beautiful sunny exposures and a particularly mild climate, which is influenced by the breezes of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Thanks to these special pedoclimatic conditions, the Sangiovese grapes reach ripeness with very intense and rich aromas. Il Poggione's Brunello interprets a classic and traditional style with particular intensity and finesse, following the best traditions of the terroir to deliver a fascinating wine every year.
Brunello di Montalcino wine from Il Poggione is a particularly fine wine, which is made from the estate's best grapes from vineyards that are more than 20 years old. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks with submerged cap maceration on the skins, lasting a couple of weeks. The wine matures for 36 months in 30- and 50-hectoliter capacity French oak barrels and finishes ageing in the bottle. In the glass, it has an intense ruby-red colour with light garnet highlights. The bouquet gives delicate scents of violets, aromas of small red berries and ripe cherries, hints of herbs from the Mediterranean maquis, balsamic hints, and hints of graphite and leather. The palate has an elegant sip, with fine tannins and deep, complex flavour development, accompanied by a lingering finish of good freshness.
