BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO FULIGNI 2019 DESCRIPTION

Brunello di Montalcino Fuligni constitutes an expression of rare elegance and typicality made by one of the most celebrated wineries in the Montalcino area. The estate consists of 100 hectares of fully cultivated land, 14 of which are reserved for vines in the northeast area of Montalcino, mainly in the locality of "I Cottimelli." Here, the family of noble Venetian origins Fuligni arrived in the early 1900s after a long period spent in the Tuscan Maremma. The winery, led for decades by Maria Flora Fuligni, adopts a traditional approach to production aimed at bringing out the most authentic character of the Montalcino territory.

Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino is derived from only Sangiovese Grosso grapes from several estate vineyards planted on galestro soils rich in stony skeleton, of Eocene origin. The vines also enjoy altitudes between 380 and 450 meters above sea level. Manual harvesting is accompanied by a strict selection of the bunches, which are then mellowed in stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation, associated with a few weeks of contact between the must and the skins. Once malolactic fermentation has also taken place, the wine is racked into large 20- and 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels, where it remains to age for at least 24 months before bottling.

In the glass, the Brunello di Montalcino from the Fuligni winery shows a ruby red colour with evident garnet reflections. Articulate and intense olfactory range, defined by aromas of ripe cherries, underbrush, herbs and fine spices that combine with pleasant balsamic and mineral nuances. Elegant and complex on the palate, where enveloping softness and brilliant fresh-sappy verve create a vigorous and persistent combination, enriched by the silky tannic texture.
