"Pian delle Vigne" is a Brunello di Montalcino prestigious and with great personality, aged for about 2 years in wood. The scents follow one another gradually, creating an olfactory frame of great value and complexity, dominated mainly by ripe red fruit with hints of cocoa, black pepper, coffee and tobacco. Warm, enveloping entrance, of sweet softness, persistent to the point of lengthening with a pleasantly spicy finish
Pian delle Vigne is the Brunello di Montalcino of the house of Antinori, a historic family of Tuscan wine producers that boasts a tradition of over 600 years, during which time it has managed to tread the road of excellence to the heights reserved for a few talents. Today, the Marchesi Antinori family in Italy has eight estates, including the Pian delle Vigne winery located a few kilometres south of Montalcino, just above the Val d'Orcia. The estate, as well as this wine, takes its name from a railway, which has been present on the property since the 19th century. Study, research, experiments and great foresight distinguish the Marquises, who are at the same time rooted in their beautiful Tuscan land with solid roots, from which each of their ancient and future products comes to life.
Brunello 'Pian delle Vigne' is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, as befits this prestigious type. The pure character of Sangiovese, expressed with the most forthright honesty in a form of absolute elegance and finesse, which acquires more and more class and complexity as the years go by. For this reason, the grapes are carefully selected, both in the field and in the cellar. Alcoholic fermentation is followed by malolactic fermentation, both in steel tanks. Ageing takes place in large oak barrels for a long time of more than 2 years.
The Antinori "Pian delle Vigne" has a beautiful ruby red colour, intense and brilliant. The nose reveals all the grace that distinguishes it, opening into a decidedly broad bouquet. Red fruit and a citrus trail introduce toasted and evolved aromas, supported by a clear imprint of spice and, in the closing, refreshing balsamic notes. The tannin on the palate is soft and silky, as is the structure. This is a wine that combines body and depth with impeccable elegance. The taste is as intense as the aroma, with which there is a precise correspondence. The long persistence amplifies the perception of pleasantness of this noble Sangiovese. "We have a mission that is not completely fulfilled, which drives us to express the vast potential of our vineyards and to reconcile the new that remains to be discovered with the heritage of Tuscan taste," this, in short, is Piero Antinori's mission and the soul of his wine.
