The Castelvecchio Cabernet Franc is a red wine born near the Isonzo, aged two years both in French oak barrels and in large barrels. It presents inviting herbaceous scents of the Mediterranean scrub, sage and bay leaves, bell pepper and tomatoes, black pepper, cinnamon and tobacco. The sip is fresh, particularly and pleasantly sapid, with a long persistence and a good taste-olfactory coherence, which also refers to tobacco and wet earth
Castelvecchio's Cabernet Franc is a red wine in which the typical notes of the variety, some herbaceous ones, slowly fade towards ethereal and composite tones. A linear and classic label, in which the starting grape is respected in its integrity, and the ageing in wood is thus limited to enhancing its personality without ever covering its soul. On the table it finds its gastronomic consecration in combination with earthy menus: try it with game-based recipes and you will be pleasantly surprised.
The Cabernet Franc by Castelvecchio comes from the grapes of an international variety, grown in various areas within the Karst National Park. We find ourselves in a special terroir, characterised by a subsoil of limestone and red soil rich in minerals, over which the typical Bora wind blows, responsible for the large temperature variations between day and night. Once the grapes have been harvested, they are destemmed and the berries are gently pressed. The resulting must ferments spontaneously - thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts - in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then transferred for final ageing in French or Californian oak barriques and large Slavonian oak casks for a total of 24 months.
The Cabernet Franc Castelvecchio presents itself to the eye with a typically ruby colour, characterised by a particular brilliance. The typical herbaceous note of the 'Franc' spreads insistently on the nose, enriched in its evolution by more tertiary touches. On the palate, it has an excellent structure, with a round and ample sip, concentrated and developed on a gentle tannic texture of great softness. A generous, mischievously captivating wine, capable, year after year, of winning over the critics of the leading national wine magazines.
