CABERNET SAUVIGNON 'BURIANO' ROCCA DI CASTAGNOLI 2017 DESCRIPTION

The Cabernet Sauvignon "Buriano", produced by the Tuscan winery Rocca di Castagnoli, is a red wine that combines, in a perfect synthesis, the characteristics of the wonderful terroir of Chianti Classico with the great tradition of Bordeaux. The continental climate, with mild Mediterranean influences, gives a remarkable ripeness of fruit and the long ageing in wood, a typical French connotation. The result is a powerful red wine that is rich, structured and surely able to age for a long time. At the table it is very well suited to accompany main courses of game or roast red meats.

"Buriano" is a Cabernet Sauvignon by the winery Rocca di Castagnoli, located in the magnificent lands of Gaiole in Chianti. In the approximately 90 hectares under vine, in addition to Sangiovese, there are also some international varieties, which have proven to be particularly well adapted to the terroir of the Chianti Classico area. The Buriano vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon covers an area of 4 hectares and has vines that are about 15 years old. The vines are cultivated at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level with a north-south orientation, on predominantly calcareous soils rich in 'alberese'. After the harvest, which usually takes place in the second half of October, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28 °C, with a maceration period on the skins of a dozen days. The wine then matures for at least 18 months in used barriques, stays for 6 months in steel and is refined in the bottle for 12 months.

Rocca di Castagnoli's red Cabernet Sauvignon "Buriano" is a beautiful interpretation of this noble grape variety original of Bordeaux, among the most cultivated and loved ones in the world. To the eye it shows a beautiful dark ruby red with garnet-coloured reflections. The olfactory picture is characterised by intense aromas of berries: blackcurrants, blueberries, blackberries... followed by hints of spices, black pepper, leather, toasted and roasted notes. On the palate it is rich and structured, with a dense and ripe tannic texture, dense and intense aromas, leading towards a harmonious and very persistent finish, which returns to pleasantly spicy notes.
