CABERNET SAUVIGNON 'COLLEZIONE PRIVATA' ISOLE E OLENA 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Cabernet Sauvignon 'Collezione Privata' of Isole and Olena is a Tuscan wine, produced in the Chianti Classico area, specifically in Barberino Val d'Elsa in the province of Florence. The winery has been run by the De Marchi family since 1956: originally from Piedmont, they decided to invest in this area, purchasing an estate in Isole and Olena. As the years went by, the business grew larger and larger, arriving in 1976 to flank the cultivation of the native Sangiovese grape with international varieties, thanks to the inventiveness of Paolo De Marchi on his return from an enlightening experience in California. In 2022, the winery was purchased by the French group Epi, which has been able to maintain and enhance the tradition of Chianti Classico.

The vineyards of the Cabernet Sauvignon "Collezione Privata" of Isole and Olena are located at an altitude of about 450 metres above sea level with nearby wooded areas that contribute to a flourishing ecosystem that is important for the development of the raw material; the soil is composed of clay, marl and sandstone for a final product with a strong character. Man's intervention in the vineyard is pondered and careful to maintain the environmental balance, in favour of perfectly calibrated grapes in their organoleptic nuance. Harvesting is carried out manually; in the cellar, the grapes ferment thanks to the action of selected yeasts and undergo a long maceration in steel tanks. Before bottling, ageing in barriques takes place.

To the eye, the Cabernet Sauvignon "Collezione Privata" of Isole e Olena is an intense ruby red with brilliant reflections. The bouquet of aromas is reminiscent of wild berries such as blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, ripe cherries and a spicy finish of tobacco and black pepper; on the palate it is warm, enveloping and elegant with persistent and long well-integrated tannins for a curious and intriguing drink. It is a perfect accompaniment to traditional Tuscan red meat dishes, first courses with elaborate sauces, and mixed, medium-aged cold cuts. Perfect to accompany the table at family celebrations or a romantic evening in front of the fireplace to enjoy the authenticity of the flavours and aromas of the renowned Chianti Classico.
