CARIGNANO DEL SULCIS 'BUIO' MESA 2022 DESCRIPTION

Carignano del Sulcis "Buio," produced by the Mesa winery, is a red wine of great taste and endowed with extreme finesse. This happy combination makes it suitable for all palates, both those who seek an easy-drinking wine and those who demand class and elegance from a glass. This Carignano represents the perfect synthesis between fruit and complexity, tracing like a plastic the somatic traits of its land. It tells of Sardinia, with its colors and scents. The personality as whimsical as it is faithful to tradition is underscored by the type of labels that Mesa habitually uses for all its wines: each portrays a detail of typical Sardinian tapestries.

"Buio" is made from pure Carignano grapes from vineyards located within the Carignano del Sulcis appellation area, southwest end of Sardinia. The soils here are sandy and calcareous-clayey, medium-textured, rich in skeleton, with a good component of organic matter and minerals. The prevailing climate is markedly Mediterranean, characterized by winds that provide for the reduction of phenomena related to moisture stagnation. All these environmental peculiarities lead to obtaining grapes of great qualitative value at harvest time. This is done manually and is followed by maceration and fermentation inside steel and cement tanks. The aging phase takes place within them and has a rather short duration.

Mesa "Buio" presents an intense ruby red color. The nose reveals a bouquet articulated on fruity notes of ripe red fruit and pomegranate, floral tints of geranium and rose and a spicy stamp to finish. The sip is soft but also fresh, set on a gentle tannic texture. It closes with slightly balsamic references and a good persistence. Its excellent value for money makes it a must-have in one's wine cellar.
