CARIGNANO DEL SULCIS 'GROTTA ROSSA' SANTADI 2022 DESCRIPTION

Cantina Santadi's Carignano del Sulcis "Grotta Rossa" is a Sardinian wine produced in the Sulcis area, particularly in the southwestern part of the island. The winery was founded in 1960 thanks to the commitment and shared intent of a group of producers under ETFAS, or Ente, for the fund and agrarian transformation in Sardinia. Initially a producer of bulk wine, the business saw a new turnaround thanks to Antonello Pilloni and oenologist Giacomo Tachis, who set themselves the goal of producing wine of refined quality, valuing to the full the characteristics of native grape varieties. Today it is one of the most popular brands nationally and internationally.

Cantina Santadi's pure Carignano del Sulcis "Grotta Rossa" grapes grow in a predominantly Mediterranean climate, with a conspicuous influence from sea breezes that make temperatures in winter never excessively cold and in summer, the sun is warm and perpetually hits the rows, ensuring excellent ripening of the grapes at harvest time. Before the harvest begins, inspections are made in the vineyard to preemptively select the best ones for good work in the cellar. Once in the winery, the clusters are destemmed, and alcoholic fermentation begins in steel; the must macerates on the skins for about a week or two and subsequently age a few months in steel before being bottled.

The colour of Cantina Santadi's Carignano del Sulcis "Grotta Rossa" presents itself in the glass as a ruby red with intense and impenetrable reflections; the bouquet of aromas is reminiscent of ripe red berry fruit and hints of liquorice root. The palate reveals itself as elegant and enveloping with tannin that is well present and well integrated into the overall structure. In pairing, it is excellent with typical red meat cuts cooked on the grill and in stews; also interesting with first courses of seasonal vegetables and stewed white meats. A product that reflects without delay the best flavours of the Sardinian land, suitable for summer barbecues in the company of lifelong friends.

When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we recommend you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can easily leave it in your cellar for 2-3 years
