Carmenere 'Balioso' Venit 2022

Carmenere 'Balioso', is an intense red that speaks of the harmony between the winery and nature, through the image of hares between the rows on the label. The distinctly fruity profile meets pleasant balsamic and undergrowth notes to which are added spicy hints of green pepper. The palate is firm and lively, round and well balanced, with an enveloping tannic texture. Excellent with juicy meats such as sausage in sauce

CARMENERE 'BALIOSO' VENIT 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Friulian winery Venit presents Carmenere 'Balioso', a red wine rich in balsamic and undergrowth aromas that is the result of an agronomic approach based on organic farming. This label is part of the 'Friuli' line, a selection of wines that show the aptitude of the Friuli region for the cultivation of international varieties. In this case, 'Balioso' is produced with only Carmenere grapes, a black grape variety originating from Bordeaux, specifically from the Médoc area, a place that has become famous for the prestige of its Châteaus. A relative of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec, like these the Carmenere originated from the so-called 'Vitis biturica', a variety imported into the Bordeaux region in ancient times by the Romans. Today, Chile dominates in terms of vineyard area dedicated to Carmenere, with Italy taking second place, particularly with Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

The 'Balioso' Venit Carmenere is made from only grapes of the vine of the same name grown under certified organic conditions on clay soils characterised by the presence of the so-called 'Caranto', a layer of compact clay. Manual harvesting is followed by the process of alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins in stainless steel tanks, with the subsequent ageing phase taking place for 70% of the mass in steel and the remaining 30% in large wooden barrels, containers in which the wine rests for approximately 6 months. This is followed by a further 6 months resting in the bottle before final marketing.

Venit's Carmenere 'Balioso' has a bright ruby red colour. On the nose, sensations of wild berries such as blackberry and wild cherry are perceived, combined with intense puffs of violet, balsamic hints of herbs and nuances of underbrush and green pepper on the finish. Fresh and enveloping on the palate, with integrated tannin and fragrant persistence on the finish.
