CARMENERE 'PIÙ' INAMA 2022 DESCRIPTION

Inama's Carménère 'Più' was born in the splendid Vicenza area of the Berici Hills and from the successful challenge of focusing on a little-known red Bordeaux grape variety that in the past was often confused with Cabernet Franc. Carménère is an ancient French variety that arrived in Veneto in the second half of the 19th century and has adapted very well to the territory and climate, but has always been somewhat sacrificed by the great commercial success of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The label offers a cuvée made with a majority proportion of Carménère, made more harmonious, softer and pleasantly fruity by the presence of a touch of Merlot.

The red Carménère 'Più' is the fruit of the desire of a famous Soave winery to also measure itself with red varieties. In 1996, Inama purchased land in the Colli Berici area to expand its range of wines with some prestigious reds. The Carménère and Merlot vineyards are located in a hilly area that has proved particularly suitable for the cultivation of international red grapes, thanks to a mild and sunny climate. The soils were generated by an ancient phenomenon of bradyseism, which led to the emergence of a rocky ridge of karstic limestone, covered by red soils, rich in iron oxides, of a clayey and silty nature. After the harvest, fermentation takes place with maceration on the skins for a dozen days. This is followed by an ageing period of approximately one year in French oak barriques and a few months in the bottle.

Inama's Carménère 'Più' wine is a classic Bordeaux blend made with the intention of introducing this variety, making it more persuasive thanks to Merlot. It is an entry label into the world of the grape variety, to be further explored later with pure wines of greater personality and depth. To the eye it is a beautiful dark ruby red with purple highlights. The olfactory picture offers aromas of small dark berries, ripe cherries and nuances of soft spices. Full-bodied, it has an aromatically rich and deep sip, with a well-integrated tannic texture, which envelops an expressive and juicy fruit. The finish is fresh and persistent.
