The Catarratto from the Vite ad Ovest winery is an enveloping and expressive white wine, capturing in its aromas the poetry of Sicilian landscapes. The nose expresses notes of ripe yellow fruit, hints of citrus, minerals and Mediterranean scrub, while the palate is rich, pulpy, with a long, saline finish. Perfect to drink at sunset, even better when overlooking the sea
The "Vite ad Ovest Catarratto" is a white wine from Sicily appreciated for its fascinating aromas of citrus and Mediterranean herbs, which evoke the scents and flavors of the Sicilian territory. Catarratto is by far the most cultivated variety on the island, occupying over 30% of the total vineyard area. It is a native white grape variety that owes its success to the high yields of the plant and its important role in the production of Marsala, a renowned fortified wine from Western Sicily. There are three main clones of this grape: Catarratto Bianco Comune, Catarratto Bianco Lucido, and Catarratto Bianco Lucidissimo.
"Vite ad Ovest Catarratto" is made exclusively from grapes of the homonymous white berry variety cultivated under certified organic farming in various districts within the territory of Marsala. The average age of the vines is about 30 years, and the altitudes range from 90 to 150 meters above sea level. Manual harvesting takes place during the second decade of September, followed by direct pressing of the grapes and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the must in barriques. The subsequent aging phase also occurs in barriques, for 10 months on fine lees, after which the final bottling takes place.
The "Vite ad Ovest Catarratto" has a bright straw yellow color with golden nuances. The aroma offers enticing hints of ripe yellow flesh fruit and citrus, blending with notes of aromatic herbs and Mediterranean scrub, all enriched by hints of sweet spices due to the wood aging. The palate, rich and full-bodied, highlights good freshness and a persistent saline finish, accompanied by fragrant sensations of fruit and citrus that invite you to return to the glass.
