CHAMPAGNE BRUT 'ALMANACH N°1' GRATIOT & CIE DESCRIPTION

The Champagne "Almanach n°1" signed by Gratiot & Cie represents the entry cuvée of the maison, a symbol of freshness, identity and territorial authenticity. We are located in the Vallée de la Marne, precisely in the Aisne district, where the soils are rich in limestone, silt and clay and the microclimate positively affects the quality of the grapes, changing continuously, from plot to plot. And it is precisely on 'zoning' that Remy Gratiot stakes everything, in order to truly bottle the essence of the terroir of origin.

Gratiot & Cie's "Almanach n°1" is a Brut that pays homage to Pinot Meunier, the star variety of this maison's production, which is present in this cuvée almost entirely (85 percent) along with a touch of Chardonnay (15 percent). This is a non-vintage Champagne, half of which consists of reserve wines, jealously guarded in the cellar for a long time. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in thermoregulated steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in the same containers and for a small part in wood. After fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the yeasts in the bottle for at least 36 months, during which the wine becomes more evolved and intense.

Brut "Almanach No. 1" is the first volume to compose the 150-year history behind the family-owned maison Gratiot & Cie. A Champagne of solid freshness and flavor intensity, it is bright in the glass, traversed by a continuous and very fine perlage. The nose exudes delicate and mild aromas, where it is the ripe yellow-fleshed fruit that is the undisputed protagonist, with subtle sensations that recall citrus fruits and their zest, freshly baked bread and the saltiness of a seaside stroll. On the palate it is generous and rich, supported by a vibrant acidity and long savoriness that leads to a smooth, clean and rejuvenating sip.
