CHAMPAGNE EXTRA BRUT BLANC DE BLANCS GRAND CRU 'L'AVIZOISE' AGRAPART 2017 DESCRIPTION

The Champagne Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Extra Brut 'Avizoise' represents a precious and elegant expression of the Côte des Blancs made by Récoltant Manipulant Pascal Agrapart. In fact, this bottle, first launched in 1989, is made with grapes exclusively from the Grand Cru village of Avize, hence the name 'Avizoise,' harvested precisely in the Robarts and Gros Yeux vineyards, characterized by the same pedological composition.

Agrapart Champagne 'Avizoise' Grand Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs is a pure Chardonnay from vines about 60 years old resting on soils consisting of a deep layer of clay overlying the typical chalky subsoil. The clusters of the single vintage are hand-picked and gently pressed, with the resulting must leave to ferment by native yeasts in small oak barrels, the same container in which malolactic fermentation and subsequent maturation of several months take place. At this point, the sparkling wine base, unfiltered, is placed in the bottle for frothing according to the Champenoise Method and sealed with a cork (bouchon liège). Ageing on the lees continues for a full 60 months before degorgement and subsequent dosage Extra Brut.

Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne Agrapart 'Avizoise' has a bright golden yellow colour with a fine, persistent perlage. The nose is a riot of elegant aromas ranging from hints of white-fleshed fruit, flowers, orange, exotic fruit and toasted almond, enhanced by mineral puffs and pleasant hints of nutmeg, pastry and ginger. Refined, generous and harmonious flavour development, delineated by fine creaminess, vibrant freshness and palpitating sapid-mineral vein. The endless closure describes a beautiful, deep and silky texture.
