CHAMPAGNE BRUT NATURE 'MESLIER & PINOT' LAHERTE FRERES DESCRIPTION

Champagne 'Meslier & Pinot' Brut Nature Laherte Freres is a rare and fine rosé that comes from a blend of Petit Meslier and Pinot Noir, hence the name. Located in Chavot-Courcourt, in the area south of Epernay, the small Maison Laherte Freres is currently led by Aurélien, the seventh viticultural generation of the Laherte family. The production vision embraced by the estate has always been based as much on sustainability in the vineyard as on non-invasiveness in the cellar, with simple winemaking aimed at enhancing the quality of the fruit. Also important has been the work done with one of the so-called "cépages oubliés," literally "forgotten varieties": the Petit Meslier.

Laherte Freres' 'Meslier & Pinot' Champagne Brut Nature consists of an equivalent blend of the Petit Meslier and Pinot Noir grape varieties from the commune of Chavot. The soils are clay and limestone, with the presence of gypsum in the subsoil, while agronomic management is based on organic and biodynamic farming principles. Pinot Noir is vinified with a short maceration on the skins, aimed at extracting the desired amount of color, and the fermentation phase takes place in oak barrels by intervention of indigenous yeasts only. Foaming takes place in the bottle according to the Champenoise Method and resting sur lie lasts for at least 24 months before degorgement and subsequent non-dosage.

Laherte Freres Champagne Brut Nature 'Meslier & Pinot' possesses a deep pink color with subtle and lasting effervescence. Refined and seductive is the olfactory range, defined by delicate fruity and floral scents of cherry, strawberry, berries and rose petals. A slight citrus streak and hints of sweet spices contribute to the overall complexity. The sip stands out for its juicy freshness, elegant bubbles and remarkable mineral and fruity persistence.
