CHAMPAGNE EXTRA BRUT ULTRADITION LAHERTE FRERES DESCRIPTION

Laherte Freres' Extra Brut "Ultradition" is a Champagne made from a cuvée composed mostly of Meunier, with the addition of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It is a label that well represents the Maison's style, harmonious, rich and complex, thanks to the use of a good percentage of reserve wines in the blend, which help give balance to the final result. The long aging on yeasts, allows the Champagne to enrich its aromatic spectrum with evolving notes of dried fruits and pastries, which add to the fruity and floral varietal aromas, always supported by a vein of lively freshness.

"Ultradition" is a Brut Champagne produced by a family-owned Maison founded in the late 19th century, which still retains the artisanal style linked to the oldest traditions of the area. It is a very special estate, managing a total of 10 hectares of vines, divided into as many as 72 microplots, located in the best crus of different areas of Champagne: Épernay, Côte des blancs, Vallée de la Marne. Each individual vineyard is vinified separately, with the utmost respect for the particular characteristics of each terroir and in order to have a wide choice of vins clairs when creating the blends. Treatments with plant compounds inspired by biodynamics are used in the countryside, replacing chemicals, so that we can have healthy grapes and genuine wines. The philosophy of the Maison is geared toward producing Champagnes with a classic taste, elegant and fresh, which are true and authentic expressions of the terroir.

Maison Laherte Freres' "Ultradition" Extra Brut Champagne is made with grapes from vineyards that are about 30 years old. Fermentations take place partly in steel and partly in barrels. The final cuvée is prepared by blending the vins clairs of the vintage with about 40 percent of reserve wines stored in oak barrels. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Champenoise method, with an aging sur lattes of 48 months. In the glass it has a luminous golden yellow color, with a fine and continuous perlage. The bouquet expresses aromas of white fruit, floral nuances, notes of almond and dried fruit, soft hints of pastry and a slight oxidative sensation. The sip is rich and broad, with a creamy, enveloping center of the mouth, closing on fresh, mineral notes. A Champagne for those who love small Maisons, far from the standard taste of the big brands.
