CHAMPAGNE BRUT GRAND CRU EGLY OURIET DESCRIPTION

Egly-Ouriet's Brut Grand Cru Champagne perfectly reflects the elegant and pure style of this exceptional Récoltant Manipulant from Ambonnay, to be counted among the greatest vigneron in all of Champagne. Today at the helm of the winery is Francis Egly, who took the reins in the early 1980s, elevating over the decades the expression of Pinot Noir champenoise through the introduction of new techniques in the vineyard and cellar, always pursuing a minimalist and genuine production approach. Fundamental is the use of Burgundian barrels for vinification, purchased from his friend Dominique Laurent, while the liqueur d'expédition are those traditionally used, made from reserve wine and cane sugar.

Egly-Ouriet Champagne Brut Grand Cru originates from a 70-30% blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, respectively, with about 50% from reserve wines. The grapes come from the Grand Cru villages of Ambonnay and Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims area, where soils are typically chalky. The vintage wine is vinified in barrels on fine lees for about a year, with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and no malolactic fermentation taking place. The mass is then topped up with vin de reserve and placed in the bottle without any filtration or clarification for frothing according to the Champenoise Method. Maturation sur lie in glass lasts for more than 40 months before dégorgement and low dosage, which is done by mixing old wines and cane sugar.

Egly-Ouriet's Brut Grand Cru Champagne is golden yellow in color with elegant perlage. The olfactory picture evokes rich and refined aromas of citrus, yellow fruit, flowers and dried fruit, with balsamic and finely spiced perceptions framing it. The taste is fresh, savoury, and full of character from the subtle effervescence that accompanies the interminable mineral epilogue.
