CHAPELLE CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU DOMAINE ROSSIGNOL-TRAPET 2016 DESCRIPTION

Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Rossignol-Trapet is a prestigious label that gives the thrill of tasting an excellent Pinot Noir from one of the world's most famous terroirs for the production of great reds. An elegant, complex and harmonious wine, dedicated to connoisseurs and fans of Burgundy reds, which originates in the territory of Gevrey-Chambertin, a small village located in the Côte de Nuits, between Fixin and Morey-Saint-Denis. In this land the history of wine has been flowing for centuries. As early as the 7th century, the monks of the Abbeys had understood the quality of the area, beginning a patient work classifying the vines, which still enhances the qualities of the region.

The Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru was born on a family estate, producing high-quality wines with a classic and traditional face. Domaine Rossignol-Trapet owns some fifteen hectares of vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, with parcels located both in the Village Appellation area and in prestigious Premier Cru and Grand Cru. The splendid exposures facing east, southeast at an altitude of about 250-300 meters above sea level and the highly vocated soils, composed of limestone with the presence of clays, provide a perfect habitat for Pinot Noir. The grapes come from vineyards planted with high planting density and low yields, which are harvested by hand with selection of the best bunches. Fermentation takes place spontaneously, using indigenous yeasts and maceration on the skins for a few weeks. The wine matures for about a year in French oak barrels.

Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Rossignol-Trapet is a Pinot Noir to be enjoyed on a special evening with roast lamb, a duck breast or small game meat. It has a bright ruby color with garnet highlights. The olfactory profile is intense and elegant, of extraordinary expressive finesse, with foregrounded aromas of raspberry, red currant, morello cherry, hints of vanilla, soft spices, toasted and woody nuances. The palate entry gives a harmonious and rich sip, wrapped in a fine and evolved tannic texture. The closure is persistent and marked by a pleasant freshness. After a few years of bottle aging, it develops more complex aromas with hints of underbrush, leather, truffle, humus and blond tobacco, making it even more fascinating.
