Chardonnay Dario Coos 2022

Dario Coos' Chardonnay is a fresh and mineral white wine, the full expression of the eastern hills of Friuli. After vinification and ageing in stainless steel, this wine surprises with vanilla and buttery notes of custard, fruity hints of ripe apricots and slightly smoky hints. It is one of those wines to drink with friends on hot summer days, but it finds its fullest expression with steamed shellfish and soft cheeses

CHARDONNAY DARIO COOS 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Chardonnay from the Friulian winery Dario Coos represents an intriguing and full expression of the connection between Chardonnay and the territory of the Colli Orientali del Friuli. This renowned white grape variety was introduced to the Friulian territory in the 19th century, immediately finding an ideal habitat, especially in the Colli Orientali area. In this region, a key role is played by the “ponca,” a type of soil composed of alternating layers of marl and sandstone, which imparts a refined mineral signature to the wine.

Dario Coos Chardonnay is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, the world's most popular white grape variety, grown in the Ramandolo area on soils composed of Eocene marl and sandstone. Specifically, the vines are cultivated on steep terraced hills without the use of desiccants and chemical herbicides, and the harvest is done by hand around the third decade of September. The grapes are then gently pressed, and the resulting must undergoes alcoholic fermentation in small French oak barrels without temperature control. Complete malolactic fermentation and about 7 months of aging on the fine lees also take place in the same containers before the final bottling.

Dario Coos Chardonnay has a deep straw yellow color with golden reflections. The complex and elegant aromatic mosaic is composed of rich scents of ripe fruit, tropical fruit, melted butter, vanilla, and fine pastries. On the palate, the full body and creamy softness are excellently supported by brilliant freshness and a long, sapid-mineral finish. The producer recommends pairing this Chardonnay with structured fish dishes or even grilled white meats.
