CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET PREMIER CRU 'LES CHENEVOTTES' PIERRE-YVES COLIN-MOREY 2018 DESCRIPTION

Pierre-Yves Colin Morey's Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru "Les Chenevottes" is a pure Chardonnay of great elegance and aromatic intensity, which comes from one of the world's most famous areas for the production of great whites. Chassagne-Montrachet is located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune and its territory is home to no fewer than 55 Climats classified Premier Cru and three Grand Cru: Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Criots-Bâtard Montrachet. The vgneti are located in the wonderful hilly belt, at an altitude between 220 and 325 meters above sea level. The soils are quite heterogeneous, composed of calcareous marls with the presence of pebbles and sands, all of which are highly suited for the cultivation of Chardonnay.

"Les Chenevottes" Premier Cru is a Chassagne Montrachet that sees the light of day in a domaine created in 2001 by Pierre-Yves Colin and Caroline Morey, both from Burgundy winemaking families, with the goal of producing great wines from a terroir of absolute excellence. The estate has an area of 13 hectares and consists of several parcels located in the communal territories of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. The vineyards are planted with over 90% Chardonnay and the rest with Pinot Noir and Aligoté. Harvesting is done taking care to assess the perfect balance between aromatic richness and freshness. The clusters are gently pressed to extract only the first fraction of the flower must, the purest and richest. Fermentations take place in one-third new French oak barrels, and the wine always matures in wood for about 15-20 months before being bottled without filtration.

Pierre-Yves Colin Morey's Premier Cru Chassagne Montrachet "Les Chenevottes" expresses all the charm of a great Chardonnay, which only this land can bestow. Excellent to taste immediately, it also possesses good aging potential. In the goblet it is a bright and luminous light yellow. The nose seduces with floral scents of hawthorn, acacia flowers, orange blossom, verbena, citrus fragrances, aromas of ripe fruit, apple, yellow melon, hints of pineapple, soft honeyed and pastry sensations, hints of almond, toasted nuts and delicate spices. With good structure and aromatic intensity, it has an elegant and smooth, complex and refined sip, which closes if savory notes and lively freshness.
