CHIANTI CLASSICO GRAN SELEZIONE 'DOFANA' CARPINETA FONTALPINO 2018 DESCRIPTION

'Dofana' by Carpineta Fontalpino is an intense and enveloping Chianti Classico Gran Selezione that embodies the very essence of Tuscany, with its land rich in history and tradition. This wine is produced with passion and dedication by Carpineta Fontalpino, a winery founded in 1967 by Italo Cresti and lovingly managed by his descendants. 'Dofana' is the result of a careful selection of the best grapes from the homonymous vineyard, cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. The label itself tells the story of a robust and vigorous Sangiovese, capable of expressing the best of the Tuscan territory and its authenticity.

The soil of Vigna Dofana provides Sangiovese with a clayey base with layers of silt and sandy areas, creating a perfect environment for the optimal ripening of the grapes. This results in a structured wine, with complex nuances of red fruits, blackberry, and slate, enriched by a graphite and spicy note. Thanks to an alcoholic fermentation of about three weeks in wooden barrels, malolactic fermentation, and aging for 15 months in tonneaux, 'Dofana' stands out for its complexity and persistence, offering an authentic expression of the terroir.

From the very first sip, Carpineta Fontalpino's Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 'Dofana' captivates the senses with its intense ruby color, bright and inviting. On the nose, it reveals an intriguing and varied bouquet, with notes of chocolate, cinnamon, and black pepper, accompanied by a fresh fruity vein. This aromatic complexity anticipates a unique tasting experience, in which the wine reveals itself majestic and enveloping. The tannins, while present, are sweet and well-integrated, giving the palate a pleasant sensation of softness. The finish is long and persistent, enriched by delicate nuances of vanilla and tobacco, inviting another sip. Perfect to pair with rich and flavorful dishes.
