Valiano's Chianti Classico Riserva 'Poggio Teo' is a pure Sangiovese from the Castelnuovo Berardenga area. It comes from a single cru, with a sandy matrix, capable of giving great finesse to the wine. On the nose, there are clear scents of cherries, blackberries and pleasant herbaceous hints reminiscent of the Mediterranean maquis. Pleasantly smoky on the palate, it shows great body and vigour, balanced by a mineral and fresh profile. Perfect with game and very mature cheeses
The 'Poggio Teo' Chianti Classico Riserva of the Valiano - Piccini brand is a pure Sangiovese that is striking for its complex spicy aromas. We are in the territory of Castelnuovo Berardenga, on the southern slopes of Chianti Classico, a place where the Piccini family has chosen to invest as part of the 'Generazione Terra' project, an ambitious programme aimed at enhancing some of Italy's most important wine-growing areas, including Chianti Classico. To this end, the Piccinis have identified Fattoria Valiano, an extensive property of 230 hectares, 75 of which are vineyards, as the ideal setting for their project.
Valiano - Piccini Chianti Classico Riserva 'Poggio Teo' is made from pure Sangiovese grapes grown in the Castelnuovo Berardenga area using certified organic farming practices. Following the harvest, the grapes are mellowed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation with maceration on the skins. Subsequently, the mass is transferred into large oak casks for ageing for 18 months prior to bottling. The wine is finally released after at least 12 months of resting in glass.
Ruby red with delicate purple reflections is the colour of the Chianti Classico 'Poggio Teo' Riserva, which on the nose expresses vivid fruity aromas of morello cherry and blackberry, enriched by hints of Mediterranean scrub, scents of spices and smoky memories on the finish. In the mouth, it is surprising for its juicy freshness, capable of supporting the full body and overall structure in a fine and fragrant development, characterised by soft, almost rounded tannins, as well as a vigorous and persistent gustative epilogue on delicious sapid-mineral sensations.
