"Colledilà" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is among the most interesting labels from one of the names that have made Italian wine history. The Ricasoli family has been involved in viticulture in the Chianti lands since the 12th century. The vast estate covers about 250 hectares, most of which are planted with Sangiovese, the area's main grape variety. Bettino Ricasoli himself codified the first Chianti wine blend, giving Sangiovese the role of the absolute protagonist of the scene. The splendid hillside exposures, cool climate and medium-textured soils, rich in marl and alberese, provide a perfect habitat for red grape varieties. Even today, the name Barone Ricasoli is synonymous with quality and fidelity to the territory's oldest traditions, always interpreted as a sign of excellence and the highest quality.
"Colledilà" is a Ricasoli Chianti Classico that is made from the best grapes from the vineyards of Gaiole in Chianti, cultivated at an altitude of nearly 400 meters (1,500 feet), facing southwest. Fermentation takes place with maceration on the skin, lasting about a week. The wine then matures in barriques and tonneaux for at least 18 months before bottling. In the glass, it has a ruby red colour with light garnet highlights. The bouquet expresses the aromas of small dark berry fruits, black cherry, currants, soft spicy nuances and delicately toasted hints. The sip is intense, long and aromatically rich, with a dense and evolved tannic texture. The finish is harmonious and balanced, with a pleasantly fresh and savoury closure.
