Chianti Classico Riserva from Podere Val delle Corti is a classic, elegant and intense version of this great traditional Tuscan red. It is a wine that comes from the wonderful hillside area of Radda in Chianti, among the most vocated areas for the cultivation of Sangiovese. Vinification with long aging in wood, allows the wine to soften the tannins, making them softer and silkier, and to enrich the typical varietal, floral and fruity profile of Sangiovese, with tertiary evolutions, which make the sip particularly elegant and complex.
The red Chianti Classico Riserva is a pure Sangiovese that sees the light of day in the heart of the lands of the Chianti Classico area. Podere Val delle Corti is a small operation that manages 6 hectares of vineyards with spirit and craftsmanship. The vineyards are planted with the native grape varieties, Sangiovese and Canaiolo to which has been added the international Merlot, particularly suited to the climate and stony soils of the area. In this area Sangiovese reaches the absolute heights of its expressive potential, and Chianti Classico Riserva is tangible proof of this. Good temperature ranges, constant ventilation and the vineyards' eastern exposure help to bring to maturity fragrant and ripe clusters that have been able to preserve a great freshness.
Chianti Classico Riserva wine, produced by the Tuscan winery Podere Val delle Corti, is made from the grapes of 40-year-old vines grown at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level on soils characterized by calcareous marls rich in marl. Fermentation takes place spontaneously using indigenous yeasts and with maceration on the skins for about 3 weeks in steel tanks and 2 weeks in open tonneaux. Before bottling, the wine matures for 24 months in used barriques and tonneaux. In the glass it has a ruby red color with garnet highlights, The nose recalls floral scents of violets, aromas of ripe cherries, small red berries, spicy sensations, nuances of leather and noble woods. The palate has good body, with a fine tannic texture well integrated with ripe fruit. The sip is long and satisfying, with a lingering finish of pleasant freshness. A label to try to rediscover the most authentic face of Chianti wines.
