CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA 'ROCCA GUICCIARDA' RICASOLI 2020 DESCRIPTION

Chianti Classico Riserva "Rocca Guicciarda" is one of the flagship wines of the Ricasoli winery, a true piece of history in the Chiantigiano area. It perfectly interweaves ancient tradition with modern, ongoing research and knows how to win you over with its balanced richness.

Rocca Guicciarda was once one of the most important fiefdoms of the Ricasoli family, a lineage with an almost millenary tradition and linked more than anyone else to the Chianti area. It was, in fact, Baron Bettino Ricasoli, around the second half of the 19th century, who popularized the grape composition that would become the basis for the production of all the wines of the well-known DOCG and that has remained virtually unchanged to this day.

Chianti Classico "Rocca Guicciarda" is made from a blend of Sangiovese with a small balance of Merlot and Canaiolo. After careful sorting of the grapes and fermentation in steel, the wine ages 15 months in tonneau and large barrels, followed by 3-6 months of rest in the bottle. The choice of using two barrels of different sizes is significant in that, on the one hand, the large barrel keeps the fragrant aromaticity of the Sangiovese intact, while on the other hand, the small barrel enriches the liquid with complex and elegant toasty notes.

Riserva "Rocca Guicciarda" reveals itself in the glass with a ruby red colour that turns to garnet. The nose, variegated and extremely territorial, combines the ripeness of red fruit, such as plum and cherry, with balsamic lashings. The sip is striking for its velvet-like tactility, although it is enlivened by the freshness brought as a dowry by the Sangiovese. A prime example of harmoniousness and perfect balance, it finds its exaltation in classic foods such as Fiorentina steak, stewed meats or aged cheeses. A wine not to be missed also by virtue of its unbeatable quality-price ratio.
