CHIROUBLES 'GRILLE-MIDI' DOMAINE DE LA GROSSE PIERRE 2022 DESCRIPTION

Chiroubles 'Grille - Midi' Domaine de la Grosse Pierre is a wine produced by the winery run by the Passot family since the 1960s, now in its third generation. Pauline, the current owner, has worked as a sommelier worldwide and returned home to move to the other side of the wine and produce identity wines of Beaujolais. The winery is known for its dedication to craftsmanship and the enhancement of the unique characteristics of Gamay grapes from the Morgon and Fleurie crus and, in particular, from Chiroubles, the highest area in the region.

The Chiroubles 'Grille - Midi' Domaine de la Grosse Pierre identifiably represents the cru of Chiroubles. The vines stand on sandy soils rich in pink granite and are responsible for the great aromaticity and finesse of their wines. The average age of the vines is around 50 years, another trait that contributes to the final elegance of the wine. The Gamay grapes are harvested by hand during the harvest, and after picking, the grapes are placed in stainless steel tanks for fermentation with indigenous yeasts. A long maceration period of 12 days is followed by daily pumping over and a fully completed malolactic fermentation. The wine matures in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel for about a year. No sulphites are added at bottling.

The Chiroubles 'Grille - Midi' Domaine de la Grosse Pierre offers a range of characteristics that make it a wine of great balance. It presents a bright, inviting red colour. On the nose, intense aromas of red fruits such as cherries, sweet plums and slight hints of sweet spices and herbs emerge. The wine is fresh and vibrant in the mouth, with great silkiness. The sip is fine and delicate but with great juice, as is typical of wines from the area. A gastronomic and elegant wine.
