'CIABOT DEL MORETO' CASE CORINI 2022 DESCRIPTION

'Ciabot del Moreto' is Case Corini's all-personal interpretation of the aromatic grape par excellence. A label that speaks of bygone eras, of a little house amidst mulberry brambles, and lets us wander with a surprised look at nature, at the ancient and traditional gestures of the family's vine-dressers.

The vineyard from which 'Ciabot del Moreto' originates was planted on the Case Corini property around 1950, with different biotypes of the aromatic white berry typical of the area where the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo is located. The peculiar soil composed of Asti marl and sand, with a wide spread of silt, hosts a few vines cultivated according to the traditional goblet system, along with most plants trained with the more modern espalier pruning system. The parcel extends over the gentle slopes that mark the transition between the Langhe and Monferrato at an altitude of 230 metres above sea level, and the soil is worked using very light mechanisation to avoid excessive compaction. Harvesting is carried out by hand, like all operations in the vineyard, at the moment of perfect ripeness, and the grapes are picked in small crates. The bunches of grapes are pressed directly and gently, while the must is fermented solely by indigenous yeasts and moved by periodic manual punching-down. Maceration on the skins lasts up to 3 weeks, and vinification takes place in steel tanks, free of any invasive intervention or adding additives or sulphur dioxide.

"Case Corini's 'Ciabot del Moreto' presents an incredible orangey appearance illuminated by soft amber reflections. The nose is a stunning  fruity complexities that travel between white pulp and quince, dehydrated fruit and nuts, finally releasing refreshing citrus aromas against a background of light honey. The decisive richness on the palate is confirmed in a sip supported by a strong mineral vein and a very long aromatic persistence. An orange expression of the great Santo Stefano Belbo classic, it honours the company of intense cheeses and roasted meats.
