The Collio Rosso "Miklus" from Draga winery is made from international grapes. Merlot and Cabernet are now at home in Friuli, as typical expressions like this blend show. The nose surprises with hints of red fruits along with evolved hints of cocoa and vanilla. On the palate, on the other hand, it stands out for its persistence and complexity; the sip is silky and tannic at the same time. Perfect with great meats, or even sipped in front of the fireplace
The Collio Rosso "Miklus" from the Draga winery, produced with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, is characterized by its French style and its predisposition to long aging. This wine, as also perceived by its name, has its roots in the hills of Collio, an area renowned for its winemaking tradition. The label of ‘Miklus’ embodies the essence of a territory rich in history and a company committed to respecting Nature and the land, values reflected in the final product. Characterized by notes of red fruit and chocolate, this wine offers a complex and harmonious sensory experience, ideal for moments of contemplation as well as conviviality.
The Collio Rosso "Miklus" from Draga is the result of expert winemaking that enhances Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the hills of Collio, whose hilly terrain consists of layers of marl and sandstone, locally called "ponca". At an altitude of 210 meters above sea level, the grapes are harvested and manually selected, then, after a 30-day maceration and fermentation on the skins, the wine matures for 25 months in French oak barrels, acquiring complexity and structure. It then further refines in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months. This artisanal process, which uses exclusively indigenous yeasts, gives Miklus a unique character and an aging capacity of over 20 years.
The result is a bright garnet-colored 'Miklus' Collio Rosso, with a fairly complex aroma, enriched by hints of wild berries, cherry jam, and raspberries, distinguishable notes of chocolate and hints of licorice and vanilla. The great aging potential testifies to the extraordinary quality of this wine, which stands out for its persistence, savoriness, and balance. The warm and mineral sip pairs well with game meat dishes and cheeses and cold cuts, a genuine expression of the Collio territory and a tribute to the great French winemaking tradition.
