Cotes du Jura 'Julien en Billat' Jean Francois Ganevat 2021

Jean Francois Ganevat's Cotes du Jura 'Julien en Billat' is a rare and exceptional red wine made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Poulsard, Trousseau and Enfarinè grapes. It has a surprising aromatic bouquet of underbrush and spices, with hints of citrus and mineral hints that give balance and dynamism to the wine. We recommend making the most of its uniqueness by pairing it with an important first course such as truffle tagliolini, an experience to remember!

COTES DU JURA 'JULIEN EN BILLAT' JEAN FRANCOIS GANEVAT 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Cotes du Jura 'Julien en Billat - L'Enfant Terrible du Sud' from the iconic Domaine du Jura Anne et Jean-François Ganevat is a blend of red grapes that is appreciated for its irresistible juicy taste. It is a complex blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau, Poulsard and Enfariné, the result of a very difficult year that saw a drastic reduction in production in some vineyards due to spring frost. Hence the decision to blend the few remaining grapes to make a wine that truthfully tells the story of the Jura territory.

'Julien en Billat - L'Enfant Terrible du Sud' Domaine Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Cotes du Jura consists of a blend of Pinot Noir (40%), Trousseau (25%), Poulsard (25%) and Enfariné (10%) grapes, grown in accordance with the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. In particular, the grapes come from the communes of Rotalier, Vercia and Grusse, located in the southern part of the Jura, where they are grown on marl and schist soils. Following manual harvesting, the grapes are mellowed in wooden vats for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation operated solely by indigenous yeasts in contact with the skins. This is followed by ageing for a year in truncated wooden vats and then bottling without the use of filtration and often excluding the addition of sulphites.

Anne et Jean-François Ganevat's Cotes du Jura 'Julien en Billat - L'Enfant Terrible du Sud' has a luminous ruby red colour. The aromatic profile is defined by fruity hints of currant, wild strawberry and blood orange, enriched by floral hints and notes of liquorice, vanilla and flint. Balanced and complex on the palate, with lively freshness and delicate tannins, as well as a juicy development that lends dynamism to the sip.
