COTES DU JURA 'PELERINE' JEAN FRANCOIS GANEVAT 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Cotes du Jura 'Pelerine' is a broad and refined Chardonnay produced in Jura by siblings Anne and Jean-François Ganevat. The modern history of the Ganevat winery began in 1998, the year in which Jean-François and his sister Anne, who represent the fourteenth winegrowing generation of the Ganevats, took over the reins of the family estate with the aim of bringing prestige to the multifaceted Jura wine region.

The 'Pelerine' Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Cotes du Jura is made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in an old vineyard over 60 years old, located in the commune of Vercia, which goes by the name of Les Courbaines. The vines benefit on the one hand from the agronomic conduction embraced by the Ganevats, based on the principles of organic farming and biodynamics, and on the other hand from the presence of grey marl in the soil. Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand and the grapes are then vinified white by means of soft whole cluster pressing and spontaneous alcoholic fermentation conducted by indigenous yeasts alone, without the use of sulphur dioxide. Malolactic fermentation follows and then 30 months ageing on fine lees, partly in oak tonneaux and partly in amphorae. Clarification or filtration operations are then excluded throughout the entire process.

The 'Pelerine' Cotes du Jura from Domaine Anne et Jean-François Ganevat has an intense straw yellow colour tending towards golden. The rich bouquet is painted by aromas of exotic fruit, citrus peel, peach and yellow flowers, surrounded by hints of sweet spices and strong>strong mineral accents. Complex and elegant on the palate, characterised by brilliant freshness and a persistent saline epilogue echoing citrus and flint sensations.
