Criots Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru from Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is born in one of the most prized terroirs of the Côte de Beaune, which has always been famous for producing extraordinary, elegant and complex white wines made from Chardonnay. The Criots Bâtard-Montrachet area is located between Mersault and Santenay in a legendary spot for all Burgundy enthusiasts. Thanks to the centuries-old work of the Cistercian monks of Maizières Abbey, these lands have become a true garden of viticulture. On vocated soils with a sunny, cool and very windy climate, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have found the ideal conditions to give excellent wines. It is precisely in this area that Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard has some of its most prestigious vineyards.

The Chardonnay Criots Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is the fruit of a family of vignerons from Burgundy who have been cultivating vines in these wonderful lands for several centuries. Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard owns 12 hectares of vineyards, divided into many small parcels, which are located in the communal terroir of Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Pommard. The grapes come from a vineyard of Chardonnay grown in the lieu-dit Grand Cru Les Criots, which is located north of the famous village of Chassagne-Monrachet, The name of the place comes from the Burgundian term "de Craie" is refers to the presence of a soil rich in pebbles and stones, of limestone matrix. The vineyard is situated an altitude of 240 meters above sea level with a sunny south and southwest facing exposure.
