The "Donnaluce" by Poggio le Volpi is a white wine from local grapes, late harvest. The aromatic profile is concentrated on tropical fruits, vanilla, almonds and honey. The taste is elegant and smooth, with great fineness and good persistence
Poggio le Volpi's "Donnaluce" is a refined and enveloping white wine with a fascinating style. It is no accident that this bottle is an ode to the whole female gender. Indeed, the label illustrates a cameo with a woman's profile, which was often used as a brooch by aristocratic women or as an embellishment of precious pendants or rings.
The Poggio le Volpi winery is one of the most interesting and dynamic wineries in the Castelli Romani, located in the municipality of Monte Porzio Catone. It counts more than a century of activity and Felice Mergè, the current owner, is the third in a long family tradition. For 20 years he has been working according to organic and biodynamic agriculture more than 13 hectares of vineyards almost entirely planted with local varieties. His strong passion, his desire for experimentation, the midday sun and the valuable volcanic terroir have enabled him to produce wines of great personality, greatly appreciated by the public and awarded annually by guides. One example is the "Donnaluce," made mainly from Malvasia del Lazio or Malvasia Puntinata, with an addition of Greco and a small part of Chardonnay. The grapes are harvested late to better concentrate the sugars and to achieve more aromaticity and smoothness.
The Lazio IGT "Donnaluce" is a well-structured white with a sensual and elegant personality. The color recalls cast gold, to highlight more its nobility. The bouquet is rich and intense, enveloped by sweet notes of honey, hazelnut and exotic fruit that are juxtaposed with floral and herbal hints, with light mineral touches. The palate is perfectly smooth, with good aromatic power and interminable fruity persistence.
