DREIGENERATIONENWEIN WEINGUT WERLITSCH 2021 DESCRIPTION

The 'Dreigenerationenwein' from Weingut Werlitsch is an Austrian white wine with a strong mineral and spicy character, born on the hills of Styria from a production philosophy based on biodynamic agriculture. This bottle originates from a rich blend of white grapes, particularly Muskateller, Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon, and Traminer. The appellation "Dreigenerationenwein" literally means "wine of three generations," chosen because this label originates from the traditional blend adopted by the Tscheppe family for three generations.

Weingut Werlitsch 'Dreigenerationenwein' is derived from a composite blend of Muskateller, Welschriesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Morillon, and Traminer grapes, varieties grown on limestone-rich soils following the principles of certified organic and biodynamic agriculture. After manual harvesting, the clusters undergo several days of maceration on the skins, with alcoholic fermentation occurring entirely spontaneously inside large open wooden vats. The different grape varieties are all vinified together, and the subsequent aging for 16 months takes place in large wooden barrels on fine lees. The final bottling follows without prior filtration or clarification.

The color of Weingut Werlitsch's biodynamic 'Dreigenerationenwein' is intense straw yellow with amber reflections. The aromatic profile consists of engaging hints of tropical fruit, ripe apple, citrus zest, and white flowers like jasmine, enriched by characteristic notes of fresh hay, flint stone, chestnut, and nutmeg. The progression on the palate is clean and elegant, with the vibrant fresh-sapidity component giving way to a persistent mineral and gently aromatic finish.
