La Caneva's 'Edipo Anfora' is a macerated white wine with a bold personality produced by a family-run winery near Venice. An expression of indigenous and international grapes that take root well in the area, which macerate for long months on the skins. The result is a wine with a deep colour, heralding a complex bouquet of lemon leaves, green hints reminiscent of fennel, fig... On the palate, it is harmonious, soft and markedly fresh. The fresh sip meets a slight tannicity, which makes it excellent with intense dishes such as a cheese-rich lasagna
The Bianco 'Edipo Anfora' from the Veneto winery La Caneva di Giancarlo represents a peculiar expression of theencounter between territory and internationality, the result of a blend of international and non-international grapes vinified in terracotta amphorae. Among the varieties grown on the estate is Verduzzo Trevigiano, which owes its appellation to its area of diffusion, where it seems to have been introduced in the early 1900s from Sardinia, although an affinity with modern grapes grown on the island has not yet been found. Although the name Verduzzo can be deceptive, this grape variety has nothing to do with the better-known Verduzzo Friulano, although the two varieties have often been confused. Compared to Verduzzo Friulano, Trevigiano ripens slightly later and tends to produce lighter wines.
Giancarlo Bianco's Caneva 'Edipo Anfora' is produced with only white grapes grown according to a sustainable approach, based on the exclusion of herbicides, insecticides and chemical fertilisers. After harvesting, carried out strictly by hand in order to preserve the integrity of the grapes, the bunches are vinified in terracotta amphorae with pellicular maceration, a technique that enhances the complexity and character of the wine.
Giancarlo's 'Edipo Anfora' from the Veneto winery La Caneva possesses a luminous golden yellow hue. The nose perceives vivid floral and yellow-fleshed fruit scents that blend with hints of aromatic herbs and citrus peel. Development on the palate of fine softness and body, not lacking in freshness and savoury tones to give dynamism to the fruity and citrusy, slightly almondy finish. Thanks to the remarkable balance between intensity and freshness, this white wine also shows excellent versatility in food and wine pairings.
