ETNA BIANCO 'LE VIGNE NICHE - CALDERARA SOTTANA' TENUTA DELLE TERRE NERE 2021 DESCRIPTION

Etna Bianco "Le Vigne Niche Calderara Sottana" is one of the flagship labels of the Terre Nere Estate. It is part of the Collection reserved for the best plots classified by the estate as Premier Cru. It is a pure Carricante that expresses all the personality of a unique terroir. The cool climate and the strong temperature excursions, due to the altitude, give very intense grapes, which allow obtaining an elegant, fresh and mineral white, typical of volcanic soils. The vinification, made in wood, gives a multifaceted complexity that makes the wine harmonious and rich without compromising its limpid and savoury expressive tension.

"Le Vigne Niche Calderara Sottana" is an Etna Bianco born from the experience of one of the most famous wineries in the area. Tenuta delle Terre Nere owns vineyards in six different districts: Calderara Sottana, San Lorenzo, Bocca d'Orzo, Guardiola, Santo Spirito and Feudo di Mezzo. Thanks to meticulous zoning work, he is able to offer bottles that are the pure expression of each individual cru. The Carricante grapes come from old sapling vines grown in Contrada Calderara, on the northern slope of Etna, at an altitude of about 650 meters above sea level, on stony soils of volcanic lava. At the end of the harvest, after a short cold maceration, the grapes are very softly pressed. The must bloom ferments in French oak barrels and matures again in 10-hectoliter barrels for a period of 10 months. Before release for sale, the wine is aged for 8 months in bottles.

The Etna Bianco wine "Le Vigne Niche Calderara Sottana" from the Terre Nere Estate is a white wine that enhances the perfect, centuries-old interaction between a historic native grape variety of the area and the soils of the volcanic slopes. In the goblet, it is light yellow in colour with brilliant golden reflections. The olfactory profile is very elegant and refined, with scents of white flowers, orange blossom, lemon peel, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis, aromas of grapefruit, cedar, fragrant white-fleshed fruit and light spicy nuances. The bite is savoury and vertical, with complex and delicate aromas and a lingering, fresh and mineral finish. Intense and deep, it also possesses excellent ageing potential.
