ETNA ROSSO 'ARCURIA' GRACI 2021 DESCRIPTION

Graci's Etna Rosso "Arcuria" was born in Sicily in Contrada Arcuria, in the heart of the Alcantara Valley near Passopisciaro, with a thousand-year-old tradition in the world of viticulture behind it. The winery is run by Alberto Aiello Graci, who decided to follow his passion for the world of wine, setting aside a degree in economics and certain employment. For the past two years, Alberto has been working his lands, putting passion and exalting the intrinsic characteristics of his beloved Sicily; his sister Elena, who is also passionate about viticulture, helps him. The work philosophy is guided by the utmost respect for nature and its wonderful fruits: the choice, in fact, was to adopt an organic regime for the cultivation of the vineyards.

The pure Nerello Mascalese grapes in Graci's Etna Rosso "Arcuria" grow on the northeastern slope of Etna in Castiglione di Sicilia in the province of Catania. The altitude is between 600 and 700 meters above sea level, with a low density and yield in the vineyard to respect the natural development of the plants. The soil is of volcanic origin rich in skeletal, sandy loam, rich in iron and nitrogen for a structured final product with character. The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters with pleasant temperatures and hot summers, but never excessively muggy and dry, thanks to the presence of breezes from the sea. Harvesting is manual and usually takes place the first week of October; in the cellar, alcoholic fermentation takes place thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts in truncated oak vats and long maceration on the skins. Ages 18 months in oak with malolactic fermentation taking place. Stays in a bottle 6 months.

To the eye, Graci's Etna Rosso "Arcuria" appears a full ruby red with luminous reflections; the bouquet of aromas is very expressive and recalls red currants, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis such as fresh oregano and hints of sweet spices; in the mouth, it is pleasant, intense and pleasantly tannic with a long final trail that recalls chalice after chalice. In pairing, it is recommended with grilled and stewed red meat cuts, game and structured white meats; also perfect with aged cow's and sheep's milk cheeses. Perfect for accompanying delicious lighthearted lunches on family holidays, tasting a wine born from the love of a craftsman to whom he has dedicated body and soul.
