ETNA ROSSO 'LENZA DI MUNTI 720 SLM' NICOSIA 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Etna Rosso "Lenza di Munti 720 slm" by Cantine Nicosia is part of the Classic range of wines from the Sicilian winery, created to enhance Sicilian autochthonous grape varieties and highlight their best varietal characteristics. It is a blend based on Nerello Mascalese with a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio, which expresses the notes of elegance and fruity delicacy of the two grape varieties and the mineral characteristics of the Etna terroir. Fresh and smooth, it is appreciated for its expressive immediacy and pleasant gustatory fragrance.

"Lenza di Munti 720 slm" is an Etna Rosso produced by one of Mount Etna's largest and most important wineries. Cantine Nicosia is a historic winery located in Trecastagni, on the southeast side of the volcano. The Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio vines are cultivated at 720 meters above sea level, ensuring a cool climate with significant temperature variations between day and night. The soils are of volcanic origin, composed of sands and rocks from volcanic decomposition, particularly rich in mineral substances. After manual harvesting, the clusters undergo cold maceration for 24 hours, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22-24 °C and maceration on the skins for a few weeks. The wine matures for about 4 months in stainless steel tanks, except for a small portion in tonneaux, and completes the ageing period with an additional 6 months in the bottle before being released to the market.

The Etna Rosso "Lenza di Munti 720 slm" by Cantine Nicosia is a harmonious red wine. Fresh, elegant, and mineral, it is perfect for exploring the Etna territory and savouring its peculiarities. The wine presents itself in the glass with a bright ruby-red colour. The youthful fragrance is expressed with delicate floral scents, Mediterranean herb aromas, small red berries, cherry, currant, and raspberry notes, and subtle hints of soft spices. It captivates the palate with rich, delicate, exuberant, and crunchy fruit, guiding the sip towards a pleasantly fresh finish. It is a simple and smooth expression of the Etna region, particularly suitable for pairing with flavorful pasta dishes, baked pasta, or roasted white meats.
