Etna Rosso 'Sisma' Monterosso 2020

Etna Rosso 'Sisma' Monterosso is a Sicilian red wine made from Nerello Mascalese, a grape variety of choice in the Etna area. Rich and full on the palate, but still well balanced by a delicate sapidity, typical of volcanic wines, the nose expresses notes of berries, floral hints and slight iodine nuances. An elegant red wine to drink throughout a meal, accompanying meat dishes or vegetarian starters

ETNA ROSSO 'SISMA' MONTEROSSO 2020 DESCRIPTION

Through its energetic volcanic soul, Monterosso's Etna Rosso 'Sisma' fully expresses the extraordinary qualities of Etna reds. The story of the small winery Monterosso began in 2015 when friends Aurelio Marconi, Giovanni Ferlito, and Gianluca Strano officially embarked on their wine adventure, driven by love for their land. The three young friends divide tasks according to their aptitudes and knowledge, with Aurelio responsible for vineyards and winemaking, Giovanni engaged in the commercial aspect, and Gianluca dedicated to administrative matters, all with one main goal: to highlight the terroir character of Monterosso.

The Monterosso Etna Rosso 'Sisma' is a 100% Nerello Mascalese from vines aged between 70 and 100 years old, grown through the traditional Etna bush vine system in accordance with the principles of organic farming. The soils where the grapes grow are made of red volcanic ash and are located at about 600 meters above sea level, with southeast exposure. Harvesting is done by hand, and in the cellar, the grapes are fermented red with alcoholic fermentation conducted by indigenous yeasts in contact with the skins in stainless steel tanks. The aging process takes place in stainless steel for several months, followed by at least a year of further bottle aging before the final release to the market.

Light garnet red with ruby reflections is the color of Monterosso's Etna Rosso 'Sisma'. The engaging aromas from the glass evoke jammy forest fruits and red flowers, surrounded by delicate hints of iodine and balsamic nuances of aromatic herbs. In the mouth, this Etna Rosso is ample, rich, and balanced, rightly tannic, with excellent freshness and a long savory-mineral finish that underlines its volcanic origin.
