FALANGHINA DEL SANNIO 'VIGNA DEL MONACO' OCONE 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Taburno Falanghina del Sannio 'Vigna del Monaco' from the Campania winery Ocone is an expression with an alluring floral and balsamic aromatic profile. This bottle belongs to the Superior 'Millenovecentodieci' line, so called to honour the year of the first Ocone-branded harvest, represented by monovarietal expressions strongly linked to the territory, as in the case of Falanghina 'Vigna del Monaco'.

Ocone Falanghina del Sannio Taburno 'Vigna del Monaco' is a 100% Falanghina from a single one-hectare vineyard located on a hillside in the municipality of Ponte, 400 meters above sea level. The rows face southwest and are rooted on medium-textured soils originating from the alteration of the partly outcropping tufaceous mother rock. Following harvest, the clusters are destemmed and placed in cold pre-fermentation maceration for a short period, followed by soft pressing and then alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. The ensuing maturation phase takes place initially on the fine lees, always in steel for 2 months, and then in barriques, containers in which the wine rests for 5 months before bottling.

'Vigna del Monaco' Taburno Falanghina del Sannio di Ocone has a straw yellow colour with brilliant golden hues. The fine and intense aromatic range opens on hints of ripe apricot, citrus peel, hawthorn, elderflower and peach, soon joined by definite balsamic and mineral perceptions. Excellent balance on the palate between soft structure, tantalizing freshness and decisive savoury timbre. Long mineral and citrus echoes on the finish. A Falanghina of excellent versatility in food-wine pairing, approachable with elaborate first courses, both seafood and land, as well as with second courses of fish of important structure.

When to open
To enjoy an artisanal wine at its best, we recommend you to let it 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can easily cellar it for 2-3 years
