FAVORITA BAJAJ 2021 DESCRIPTION

La Favorita from the Bajaj winery is a Piedmontese white wine that originates in the Roero lands. It is a fruity, fresh and fragrant wine, perfectly reflecting the characteristics of this ancient grape variety, which genetic research has shown to be a local biotype of Vermentino and Pigato. White grape varieties have always had a hard time in a region like Piedmont, which has always been identified with great reds, particularly Nebbiolo. It is precisely in the Roero area, however, that the Favorita grape variety has found the ideal pedoclimatic conditions to express itself at high levels of quality, characterised by great finesse and elegance.

Favorita wine is produced by a winery in Monteu Roero. The Bajaj estate is located in the hilly area separated from the Langhe by the Tanaro river. Despite the proximity and climatic similarities with the Barolo and Barbaresco area, from a geological point of view the Roero has special characteristics. The soils are mainly composed of sand of ancient marine origin, rich in fossils, and very suitable for the cultivation of white varieties. The grapes are destemmed and then undergo soft pressing to extract only the free-run juice. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with pied de cuve in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine matures for a few months in stainless steel tanks.

The white Favorita from the Piedmontese winery Bajaj is a wine that is especially appreciated for its immediacy and youthful freshness of the fruit. Because of these characteristics, it is particularly suitable as an aperitif, with seafood or vegetable hors d'oeuvres or with delicately flavoured fish. Straw-yellow in colour with luminous reflections, it expresses itself on the nose with an elegant bouquet that exalts aromas of white flowers, orange blossom, citrus fragrances, aromas of white-fleshed fruit, green apple, peach and vegetal hints of aromatic herbs. Limpid and fragrant, it conquers with a pleasantly fruity and crisp sip that stretches towards a fresh and savoury finish.
