Château des Moriers

Fleurie 'La Brirette' Château des Moriers 2019

Fleurie 'La Brirette' from Château des Moriers is a classic Beaujolais red wine made from Gamay. Aging in wooden barrels gives the wine warmth and smoothness, as well as delicate smoky notes on the nose that are well balanced by mineral hints due to the pink granite soil on which the vines grow, on the hill behind the estate. On the palate it is full and enveloping, juicy and smooth - after a few years of aging in the cellar it will be able to reveal all its elegance

FLEURIE 'LA BRIRETTE' CHÂTEAU DES MORIERS 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Fleurie "La Brirette" from Château des Moriers is a cuvée created in 2014 to give voice to a particularly vocated parcel with distinctive characteristics, which stood out from the rest of the vineyards of the domaine. It fits perfectly into a process of renewal and renaissance of Beaujolais, which, thanks to a nouvelle vague of producers, is growing steadily with wines of ever higher quality. The cuvée is obviously made from pure Gamay, the typical Beaujolais grape variety. Thanks to the craftsmanship of the work in the vineyard and in the cellar, it is a fragrant and fruity red, frank and genuine, pleasant and satisfying.

"La Brirette" Fleurie from Château des Moriers is the fruit of the profound knowledge of the terroir of a domaine that owns 9 hectares located mainly in Fleurie, one of the most famous terroirs in the Beaujolais, and in Moulins-à-Vent, another highly vocated area in the region. The wine is produced in a limited number of bottles, only with grapes from a small parcel, La Brirette, located on a hillside just behind the Maison. The old vines take root in poor, well-drained soils, originating from the disintegration of pink granite rocks. After manual harvesting, whole cluster semi-carbonic fermentation takes place to maintain the crisp fragrance of the fruit. Before bottling, the wine matures for several months in 400-litre used French oak barrels.

The Fleurie red 'La Brirette' from Château des Moriers is a refined and elegant version of pure Gamay, expressing in a limpid way the character of this Beaujolais terroir, which has always been known for the particular finesse of its wines. To the eye, it is a beautiful dark ruby red with light, youthful purple highlights. The olfactory picture is dominated by the aromas of small red fruits, morello cherries, currants, raspberries, and hints of herbs and spices. Medium-bodied, flowing and agile on the palate, it has a subtle tannic texture that is well integrated with intense, rich aromas, stretching towards a fresh, harmonious finish.
