La Caneva's Semi-sparkling Ancestral Rosé 'Gripoea' is an ancestral method sparkling rosé produced in an artisanal manner by a Venetian winery. With a lively and engaging personality, it reveals intense hints of red fruits, plums and a pleasant iron note on the finish amplifies its complexity. The palate is well structured, with a pleasant tannicity and a bitter finish that invites drinking. Suggested with savoury dishes such as a pork loin stuffed with sausage and scamorza cheese
The 'Gripoea' Frizzante Ancestrale Rosato from Giancarlo's Veneto estate La Caneva is a bottle-refermented wine with a lively and carefree personality. The origins of the La Caneva winery date back to 1973, when founder Giancarlo Botter, then in his early twenties, planted the first vineyard in Cessalto, in the province of Treviso. The inauguration of the winery in Ceggia, in the province of Venice, which is still the home of La Caneva, dates back to 1980. Alongside the traditional varieties of the area, such as Verduzzo Trevigiano, Raboso Veronese and Tai, the Botter family breeds international grape varieties that have now become an integral part of Veneto oenology, most notably Pinot Grigio. Giancarlo was in fact the second producer to cultivate this grape in the province of Venice.
Giancarlo's Frizzante Rosato Ancestrale 'Gripoea' originates from grapes cultivated according to an environmentally friendly approach, excluding the use of herbicides, insecticides and chemical fertilisers. Once harvested entirely by hand, the grapes are transferred to the cellar where they are vinified through spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and brief maceration on the skins. The slight frothing takes place in the bottle according to the Ancestral Method and the entire process excludes the use of invasive addition or manipulation of the wine.
The Frizzante Ancestrale Rosato 'Gripoea' from the Veneto-based La Caneva di Giancarlo has a bright and lively pink colour. The aromatic bouquet begins with notes of red fruits and flowers, complemented by hints of yeast and aromatic herbs. The progression on the palate is lively and slender, very pleasant and enjoyable, with a marked freshness that accompanies the red fruit notes on the finish.
