The Gamay "Gam(e)...ayy!" Touraine from Domaine Oudart interprets to perfection the aptitude of this French red grape variety to express itself in fresh, fragrant wines, characterised by crisp fruit and a very pleasant smoothness of the drink. This grape, which originated in Burgundy and is now mainly found in Beaujolais, has adapted very well to the cool climate of the Loire Valley, where it produces very elegant wines. Its delicate tannins and juicy, lively exuberance make it an ideal companion to accompany a snack with a charcuterie board or an informal dinner with friends.
The "Gam(e)...ayy!" Touraine is a pure Gamay made by Domaine Oudart, a family-run business that has been producing wines in the Loire Valley region, particularly in the central Touraine area, since the late 1990s. The vineyards are farmed sustainably, and the entire estate has converted to organic farming. The Gamay grapes come from a selection of different parcels of the domaine, cultivated along the left bank of the Cher River, a tributary of the Loire, at an altitude of approximately 100 metres above sea level. The sunny and cool east-facing exposure and soils composed of clays, sands, silica and gypsum provide an ideal habitat for producing wines of great finesse and elegance. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with classic maceration on the skins. The wine then matures in steel vats for 7 months to preserve the varietal characteristics and primary aromas.
The red Gamay "Gam(e)...ayy!" Touraine from Domaine Oudart is a wine of pure pleasure, young and immediate, which wins you over precisely by its simplicity. In the glass, it has a beautiful, luminous ruby red colour with light purple highlights. On the nose, it offers a very expressive bouquet, with violets and iris scents and aromas of ripe cherries, redcurrants, raspberries, hints of blood orange, nuances of undergrowth and aromatic herbs. Agile and limpid, it has a fine, fine tannic texture and a very rich fruit, which gives the sip a pleasant sensation of softness and harmony. The finish is fresh and very fruity.
