The Gavi "La Fornace" is a soft, fragrant and perfumed white wine, an ideal companion for aperitifs, appetizers and fish dishes. The aromas are fruity, vegetal and spicy and the taste delicate and enveloping, with excellent balance and fine texture
Gavi 'La Fornace', produced by Cinzia Bergaglio's Piedmont winery, is a refined, fresh and fragrant label that highlights the best characteristics of an area historically well-suited to the cultivation of white grape varieties and Cortese in particular. This ancient grape variety, native to southern Piedmont, has managed to survive and make its way in a region dominated by red wines thanks to its unquestionable qualities. The elegance and delicacy of its aromas, combined with a clear freshness, make Cortese one of the most interesting vines in northern Italy. Thanks to passionate winegrowers, today the Gavi area has reached important milestones and offers wines of an excellent level.
'La Fornace' is a Gavi produced near Tessarolo, in the hilly area in the province of Alessandria. Cinzia Bergaglio's estate is run with great respect for the environment. The mild climate already feels the influence of the sea breezes coming up from the Ligurian Sea coast and the soils are very suitable, thanks to the presence of limestone, clay and sand. The rows are grassed and no fertilisers are used other than green manure. The vines are trained with short pruning and low yields, so as to favour the quality of the grapes. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and the must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine matures for a few months in steel tanks before being bottled.
Cinzia Bergaglio's white Gavi 'La Fornace' presents itself to the eye with a beautiful, bright and brilliant straw yellow colour. Delicate and elegant, it seduces with refined scents of white flowers, aromas of ripe citrus fruit, Golden apple, white peach, cartaro melon, and hints of aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean maquis. Fragrant and limpid, it expresses fruity aromas of great finesse, giving a harmonious sip, characterised by a savoury and very fresh finish. Although it is already very pleasant to taste young, thanks to Cortese's good ageing capacity, it is not afraid to age for a few years in the bottle.
