GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 'LA JUSTICE' PHILIPPE CHARLOPIN-PARIZOT 2018 DESCRIPTION

Gevrey-Chambertin "La Justice" from Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot is an excellent Pinot Noir. It is produced by a family-owned estate, which offers a range of labels made with great attention to the terroir, aiming to bring delicate nuances of it into the glass. Gevrey-Chambertin is located in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits, and has been famous for centuries for the quality of its vineyards, enhanced by the patient work of the monks of Cluny. Today the Appellation can boast the presence of 26 Climat classified Premier Cru and as many as 9 legendary Grand Cru, making this terroir one of the world's best suited for the production of great reds.

"La Justice" Gevrey-Chambertin is produced by Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot, which manages an estate of about 25 hectares, divided into a multitude of small parcels located in Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune et Chablis. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the vines grown in the lieu-dit La Justice, which is vinified separately from the rest of the vineyards located within the Gevrey-Chambertin Village appellation because of the excellent quality of its production. In fact, soils of a calcareous nature, with the presence of sand, give wines of extraordinary elegance and finesse. At the end of fermentation, with maceration on the skins for a few weeks, the wine matures for about a year in French oak barrels.

Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot's Gevrey-Chambertin "La Justice" is a Pinot Noir true to the character of the terroir, famous for giving well-structured, rich reds, but also with a delicate and velvety profile. It shows a bright ruby red guise with light purple hues. The olfactory picture is of great elegance and finesse with scents of raspberry, morello cherry, red currant, floral nuances of violet, delicate spicy notes, licorice root, toasted hints and underbrush. Medium-bodied, it possesses a subtle and suave tannic structure. The aromas present a refined expressive facet and stretch out harmoniously, giving a sip of extraordinary gustatory balance, which closes persistently on fresh and savory sensations. Already very pleasant in its youth, it gains in complexity and depth with a few years of bottle aging.
