GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN VIELLES VIGNES 'AUX CORVEES' GUILLARD 2018 DESCRIPTION

The Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 'Aux Corvées' from the small artisanal producer S.C. Guillard is a red wine from Burgundy full of charm and class, an expression of one of the most prestigious AOCs of the Côte d'Or. The vigneron Michel Guillard has become a benchmark in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, an area where Pinot Noir reigns supreme. Through a traditionalist approach that respects both the raw material and the ecosystem, Michel gives rise to interpretations that reflect the noble terroir behind them, unfortunately made in very limited quantities. The Gevrey-Chambertin AOC is known for its rich and complex Pinot Noirs of incredible longevity, and the 'Aux Corvées' cru is located just south of the village.
S.C. Guillard 'Aux Corvées' Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is a 100% Pinot Noir from very old vines grown on soils consisting mainly of red clay and limestone. The vines, located at an altitude of around 300 metres, are cultivated sustainably, always seeking the highest quality. In the cellar, the grapes are vinified in red wine according to Burgundian tradition, with alcoholic fermentation taking place in French oak barrels of several passages, containers in which the subsequent ageing phase of approximately one year also takes place.
In the goblet, the Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir 'Aux Corvées' Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is dressed in a beautiful dark ruby red colour. The aromatic spectrum is generous and multifaceted, with fruity aromas of wild strawberry, cherry and blueberry meeting delicate violet sensations. Deep mineral and dark spice sensations complete the olfactory context. Ample, soft and structured on the palate, where the crisp freshness and silky tannic texture lend great elegance and agility.
