Gewurztraminer Franz Haas 2023

Gewurztraminer by Franz Haas is an authentic expression of the clay soils and the beautiful temperature variation of the Val d'Adige from which it comes. The nose exudes characteristic aromas of rose water and orange peel combined with spicy textures of nutmeg and cloves. The sip is rich and with a beautiful slightly bitter persistence

GEWURZTRAMINER FRANZ HAAS 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Gewurztraminer from the Franz Haas winery is a full-bodied white wine with great aromaticity, produced in the Adige Valley in the province of Bolzano by the Haas family, which has been running this renowned winery for seven generations and has become one of the flagships of Alto Adige over the years. This great white is a landmark of the region, whose exotic and tropical aromas and aromatic flavour will captivate and accompany your most romantic dinners.

White Gewurztraminer is harvested when the grapes reach full ripeness. The clusters are transported to the cellar and carefully selected. After the grapes are gently pressed using a pneumatic press, the must is transferred to stainless steel tanks where it undergoes alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine is matured on its lees with frequent batonnage for a period of approximately 6 months in refrigerated steel vats, allowing this white to acquire structure while preserving its aromaticity.

The Franz Haas Gewurztraminer presents itself to the eye with an intense golden yellow colour and amber hues. On the nose a swirl of exotic fruit notes, including lychee, orange peel, intriguing floral hints of rose and sweet spices, including star anise, cinnamon and nutmeg, make up a rich and exuberant bouquet. On the palate, it is full, round and endowed with a strongly aromatic core, with an almost oily concentration, but at the same time characterised by a pleasant freshness and a good saline-mineral contribution. A white wine with great character, endowed with a rare and enveloping personality. The finish is long, persistent and slightly bitterish, with aromas that linger pleasantly, making it unique.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied white wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
